Cortlyn and Doug’s wedding planner connected us after recognizing that shared pull toward timeless, editorial-leaning imagery. It’s really special to photograph couples at the place where they’ll eventually say their vows. The walls become familiar, and the light feels less intimidating. What I loved about this Marland Mansion session was how aligned it felt with their vision. The trust was placed in their planner and then passed along to me. That kind of trust is never lost on me. It’s a partnership built on intention and believing that your story deserves to be told with care.

Why Marland Mansion Is a Dream Oklahoma Wedding Venue

Marland Mansion isn’t a venue that needs to be dressed up or reinvented. It already knows who it is. As a historical site and museum, everything inside is original or intentionally brought in to reflect the 1920s and 30s, and you can feel that immediately. The furniture feels royal, and the rooms feel lived in.

From a photography perspective, it’s a space that gives more than it takes. The natural light is consistent and soft, and the architecture does a lot of the visual work without overpowering the people in it. Staircases, iron doors, and tiled floors give variety, and you can see that throughout their gallery. You can move through the mansion and let moments unfold instead of constantly chasing the “next spot.”

The Way It All Comes Together

Cortlyn and Doug have a way of being fully present with each other. Those are the moments I’m always watching for. This venue supports a slower pace, letting couples settle in and actually experience their day. For couples who value purpose, care deeply about their story, and want images that still feel like them years from now, this space fits effortlessly. And for me, it’s a place where I can focus on documenting connection as it really is.

Cortlyn and Doug will be back in this space in March, walking it in a completely different way, and it feels right that this is where their story officially began. Engagement sessions are about familiarity, trust, and creating something that feels steady before a big day. This was all of that. And I already know their wedding day is going to feel just as grounded, meaningful, and joyful.
