I was immediately excited when Alex and Mike first reached out about their Dallas engagement photos. It wasn’t just a location list—it was a story they were already beginning to tell. They were getting married at the Arboretum and wanted to tie that soft, elegant outdoor feel into their session. However, they also met in New York, and both work as lawyers, so naturally, there was a timeless, urban sophistication woven into their story as well. The contrast was so them—grounded and graceful.
We ended up building their session around that balance. Flippen Park provided us with lush spring greenery and quiet, tucked-away romance, evoking a sense of nostalgia for their wedding venue. Arlington Hall added classic architecture and a hint of Southern charm. And downtown is where we leaned into the upscale, editorial side. This day was a love letter to where they’ve been, where they’re going, and who they are together in this season.
It was one of those early May afternoons where the sun shows up just enough without making you regret your outfit choices. Not too hot, and not too bright. The kind of day photographers dream about.
We started at Flippen Park, a quiet little spot. From there, we made our way to Arlington Hall, where the energy shifted from garden romance to graceful Southern estate. The whole place breathes charm.
Through it all, Alex and Mike were naturals, leaning into each other, laughing and trusting the process. They moved with ease, playful and warm.
After soaking up all the garden vibes, we made our way downtown. Out went the soft florals and fountains, in came the sleek lines, reflective windows, and that editorial energy that only a city backdrop can bring.
Alex and Mike absolutely owned the city. This was the side of them that felt polished, modern, elevated—still playful, still kind, but undeniably chic.
Their NYC roots showed up in the best way here. You could feel how much they loved being in that space together. And watching them settle into that energy—fully themselves, at home—was a reminder of how dynamic and multi-layered love can be.

One of the things that made this session even more special was how Alex and Mike opted to add film photography—and let me tell you, it delivered. There’s just something about film that slows everything down. It captures light with a softness that feels lived-in.
Some of my favorite frames from the whole day came from those rolls of film. I’ll always love the ease and versatility of digital, but film brings this soulful, nostalgic layer that’s hard to put into words. I don’t shoot it for every session, but when couples like Alex and Mike say yes to it, it’s such a gift. If you’re even slightly curious about adding film to your session, I say go for it. You’ll never regret having those tangible, artful moments in your story.
